Upper Division Baccalaureate Program

Admission Requirements
Applicants without a prior Baccalaureate Degree


Applicants to the Upper Division Baccalaureate program without a prior baccalaureate degree must show completion of an Associate Degree or a minimum of 60 semester credits of post-secondary coursework from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. This includes 38 semester (57 quarter) credits of prerequisites with a GPA of 2.0 or better for the courses noted below:

Applicants with a prior Baccalaureate Degree
After July 1, 2008, applicants to the Upper Division Baccalaureate program, who already possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution, must show satisfactory completion of 20 semester (30 quarter) credits from an accredited institution with a GPA of 2.0 or better for the courses noted below:

Requirements Relevant to All Programs
Applicants who have completed courses that are different from, but are the equivalent of, those required for admission should submit transcripts and course descriptions for review by the Director or Nursing Education Programs.
NOTE:

Associate Degree in Nursing Program

As a convenience to students, applicants to the Associate Degree in Nursing program may elect to take one or more stand-alone general education pre-requisite courses at Denver School of Nursing. To be enrolled in the general education courses at DSN, students must successfully complete an entrance exam.

Admissions Requirements:
Applicants must successfully complete 17 semester (25.5 quarter) credits of post-secondary coursework, with a GPA of 2.0 or better for the courses noted below:

LPN to Associate Degree in Nursing Program (LPN to ADN)

As a convenience to students, applicants to the Associate Degree in Nursing program may elect to take one or more stand-alone general education pre-requisite courses at Denver School of Nursing. To be enrolled in the general education courses at DSN, students must successfully complete an entrance exam.

Admissions Requirements
Applicants to this program must show, at a minimum, successful completion of 17 semester (25.5 quarter) credits of post-secondary coursework from an accredited institution, with a GPA of 2.0 or better for the courses noted below:

Applicants must also meet the following requirements:

  1. An unencumbered Colorado practical nurse license with IV authority (if IV authority not attached to the LPN license, applicant must complete the NRS 136 Basic IV Therapy Course in addition to other program requirements).
  2. Completion of a practical nursing program approved by the Colorado Board of Nursing or an accredited practical nursing program within the prior three years.

NOTE:
PNs who graduated more than three years prior to enrollment need to meet additional requirements as per the Colorado Articulation Model (See Admission Representative).

Pursuant to the Colorado Articulation Model, 42 quarter hour credits for one year of prior education from a PN program will be awarded through articulation. Appropriate credits will be accepted as transfer credits and placed on the student’s transcript after successful completion of one quarter at Denver School of Nursing.
